Collayer
A downloadable tool
Collayer is a level design tool with procedural generation built in.
Sketch rough level layouts, define how your character moves, and the generator fills in platforms to guarantee solvability. No more back-and-forth playtesting to see if that jump is actually possible.
Works with any 2D platformer movement system, Mario, Celeste, Prince of Persia, whatever.
This is a free alpha proof of concept. The week 4 of my weekly project series. Very rough around the edges but the core works. Try it, break it, let me know what you think. I have plans to fully develop this and could use any feedback.
You can read more about its development on my Patreon blog here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/week-4-movement-143120846?utm_medium=clipboard_cop...

I really like this - having movement definition sets is an elegant way to make it support different movement types. I could see a tool like this being handy for making a platformer, or even a tile based puzzle game (like a sokoban-like) if your search could include state changes for multiple entities. Ideally you'd support loading/saving TMX tilemaps.
I'm not in the market for a tool like this right now, but it would've been useful for me in the past - if anyone uses it for a project it would be nice to know how they get on with it, then you could know if it's worth expanding into a fully featured product.
Right? I think it has potential. I need to start using it myself too, to know where it needs work.
I want to have it load and save to Tiled and LDtk as well. Then you can work on the two programs seamlessly and I don't have to turn this into a fully featured map editor, with tilesets and all.
